Groundwork TV | EP 19: Transforming Communities through Education and Organizing with Tevin McDaniel
In this episode, Joe sits down with Tevin McDaniel, Co-Founder and Community Building Coordinator at Foundation for Liberating Minds, to discuss programming like ‘We, the Eastside’, the free community breakfast program, and his time with The Organizing Accelerator.
Foundation for Liberating Minds, a member of the Groundwork Organizer Network, is a Black-led, multiracial, multicultural abolitionist organization creating liberation through transformative political education and movement building. In addition to his work at Foundation for Liberating Minds, Tevin is a 2024 alumnus of The Organizing Accelerator, a training, mentoring and networking fellowship for emerging grassroots organizers, community organizers, campaigners, social justice advocates and civil rights leaders.
In his role as Community Building Coordinator, Tevin has put together a handful of incredible initiatives and programs in Oklahoma City. We, the Eastside is a community-building project dedicated to the growth of the Eastside through education, community, and power building. Tevin also runs a free community breakfast program on the Eastside, drawing from the historic organizing principles of the Black Panthers.
Transformative education can disrupt the root causes of oppression and marginalization — pushing us to dream radically. Watch the full episode to learn more about Tevin’s work.
